Dear Carers and Parents,

We hope everyone is well, and that you took time over the half term break to relax, though the weather wasn’t that pleasant!

I am sure you will have seen in the news that the Prime Minister has announced that it will not be possible to resume face-to-face learning for all children immediately after this February half term break. Instead the hope is that it may be safe to commence the full reopening of schools from Monday 8th March 2021.

Please note this date has yet to be confirmed! News is expected tomorrow, and after that we will be issuing events dates, too much is still unknown to plan with any clarity at the moment.

We have been informed that we will be given at least two weeks' notice to prepare for a return to face-to- face education for all students. As soon as we know the date/ expectations when we can fully reopen - we will share this with you.

In the meantime, we continue to be open for children of critical workers and those who are considered to be vulnerable. Remote education will resume this Monday 22nd February for those students not currently in school.

Lateral Flow tests are available for all staff in school which are administered twice a week. These tests give us reassurance that any asymptomatic carriers of COVID are more likely to be picked up and greater confidence that school is a safer environment. Anybody testing positive would be required to self-isolate in line with Government guidelines and take a PCR test to confirm. Close contacts would also be required to self-isolate.

Don’t forget that should your child or any member of your household has developed  symptoms, they must start self-isolating immediately and book a test. Everyone in the household must self-isolate until the result comes back, even if no one is displaying symptoms – this part of the guidance has caused the most issues for school.

Finally, we would like to offer our thanks to all of you for your efforts during this time. Whether your a critical worker or a home learning expert, you are offering great support to our Exhall community. Those staff who are parents know that this isn't always easy, and you are all doing a great job. As always we can and will do this together.

As mentioned before, we will update you as soon as we are able to and very much look forward to welcoming all our students back as soon as it is safe to do so.

Take care.
